Ass Savers Enters Road Market With New Ass Saver Extended, Debuts With Rapha Condor JLT Pro Cycling Team

Gothenburg, Sweden — 5 June 2014

Ass Savers, Swedish makers of the small, foldable, plastic mudguard that has been deployed by commuters and professional cycling teams alike today unveils the road oriented Ass Saver Extended and debuts it with the Rapha Condor JLT Pro Cycling Team. The new addition to Ass Savers mudguard lineup is the result of an arduous R&D process and features a lengthened tail when compared to the urban/fixed-gear focused Ass Saver Original. The Ass Saver Extended also employs the Gothenburg-based company's patent pending front rail attachment system.

"Road cyclists have always used our products, but after Ass Savers were used in the pro peloton during the 2013 Milan-San Remo race we started to see a significant rise in interest that has never gone away. Feedback from a lot of riders was that you don't fold away them anyways, when you're training or racing you put them on or you don't," says CEO, Staffan Weigel. The final design sees 30mm added to the length (370mm compared to 340mm) which makes a significant difference when taking into account the angle of spray coming off the wheels. Additionally, the folding/storage feature was removed as it was a limiting factor in the length of the product and the lack of a horizontal fold also slightly increases rigidity which should mean fewer dislodged mudguards and unpleasantly wet asses on rough roads.

The Ass Saver Extended will first be used by the Rapha Condor JLT Pro Cycling Team during the (hopefully wet) Tour of Korea taking place June 8–June 15. The RCJ Team Edition sports a tidy black and white design with a pink stripe, inspired by the team's distinctive kit.

Rapha Condor JLT Directeur Sportif, John Herety says, "Ass Savers do what they say on the tin, save your bum. On long days in the saddle you need to be focusing on the racing or your training ride not on your damp derrière. The new extended road model is perfect way to keep the rain off and performance up."

Some of the highest praise comes from the team's Assistant Directeur Sportif, Tom Southam:

"Rapha Condor JLT use the finest products that are tried and tested. Ass Savers have been continually evolving their product to ensure they produce the best product that fits securely and keeps the rain off. It was an obvious choice for the team."

The Ass Saver Extended is available immediately for €7.99 from Ass-Savers.com and comes in seven colors. Worldwide shipping is available for free with the purchase of three or more. The Ass Saver Extended will also be dropping in local bike shops around the world this summer.

The Rapha Condor JLT Team Edition Ass Saver Extended will be available exclusively as giveaways through the Rapha Condor JLT team, follow them on social media outlets for information on how you can bag one for yourself.
